With all the crazy stories we hear everyday in the media and on social media, I sometimes feel like I have more questions than answers. What is happening to everyone? Have we all lost our minds? Where is the sanity?
Everyone seems so angry all the time! Everything we are fed through the media seems designed to make us angry, to distrust, to dislike and even hate each other.
!!ANGRY!!
A friend and I were talking about this subject the other day and of course, the subject came back to the terrorists who seem to hate us just because we are different. Sad. But she had a good point when she said she refused to hate her fellow human beings, and “you or no-one can make me!”
At first, I didn’t quite know what to make of her statement. I mean, aren’t we supposed to stand up against the bad guys? Aren’t the terrorists the bad guys? I confess, I was a little confused. We talked some more then had to go our separate ways, things to do, places to go, people to see……
I thought some more about what she said over the next couple of days, and I think I understand what she meant. Yes, of course we should stand up against the bad guys. I’ve always been a defender of those who are bullied and unable to defend themselves (that’s another story for another day).
But does that give us the right to hate the bullies? And let’s face it, terrorists are bullies, bullies with no moral boundaries except those which benefit themselves. But does that give us the right to hate them? No.
We can hate what they do, what they believe, the death, pain and havoc they cause. But we do not have the right to hate them. I know. That’s a hard pill to swallow, and there’s now way to sugar coat it.
I have to say, I stand with my friend. I refuse to make someone hate my fellow human beings and “you can’t make me!”
